Genevieve Goffman was born in Washington D.C. and is based in Brooklyn, New York City. She earned her MFA in sculpture from Yale in 2020.

Goffman works primarily with sculpture and object-making, often through the medium of 2D printmaking and otherworldly, ornate 3D printed sculptures derived from digital modeling, that draw from an expansive inventory of visual symbols found in architecture, internet aesthetics, and fantasy novels. Her work focuses on utopian thinking, the memories and potential futures of communism, the intersection of technology, class, luxury, and the history of nuclear science and radiation. Whether it is our relationship to the passage of time, and the ideologies and neuroticism that surround the future, Goffman’s work seeks to provoke new ways of seeing historical events, questioning even the very objects by which we interpret them.

Goffman's recent solo exhibitions include ‘The Triumph Of A Lonely Place’, Espace Maurice, Montreal (2024); ‘Before It All Went Wrong’, Hyacinth Gallery, New York (2022); ‘Grind’, Money Gallery, St. Petersburg (2021); ‘Here Forever’, Alyssa Davis Gallery, New York (2020); ‘Hotel Heaven’, Lubov, New York (2019); ‘Redwall, But For Your Dead Pets Only’, Catbox Contemporary, New York (2019). Goffman’s installation, The View, was exhibited in 2023 at the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria. In 2024, Goffman exhibited at the Aspen Art Fair with Rusha & Co and Nada Warsaw with Alyssa Davis Gallery; in 2021, she exhibited at NADA x Foreland with Alyssa Davis Gallery.

She has also shown work with Petzel Gallery, New York (2024); Eyes Never Sleep, New York (2024); Blade Study, New York (2024); Foreign and Domestic, New York (2023); Thierry Goldberg Gallery, New York (2023); Fragment Gallery, New York (2022); Harkawik, Los Angeles (2021); Patara Gallery, Tbilisi (2020); Workroom.Daipyat, Voronezh (2020); and EXILE, Vienna (2019).

Goffman has been featured in articles by Pin-Up Magazine, Art Forum, Art News, Nylon Magazine, Spike Art Magazine, and Curator Guide. Her first book, The Triumph of a Lonely Place, was published in 2024 by Inpatient Press.

In 2025, Goffman will be featured at Nada New York with Halsey McKay Gallery, opening her first Los Angeles solo show at Rusha & Co, as well as a solo show in New York curated by Foreign & Domestic in collaboration with Alyssa Davis Gallery.

The Triumph of a Lonely Place
Goffman’s first novella is a coming of age story of the struggle between regression and acceptance, a vanishing suburb and an encompassing wilderness all kindled by the flame of an industrial disaster.
